This summer, St. Camillus celebrated six graduates from our Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program, welcoming students from Wisconsin, Illinois, and Texas. Through hands-on experience, mentorship, and reflection, Chaplain Interns develop the skills and confidence to provide compassionate spiritual care in hospitals, hospice, long-term care communities, and other health care settings.
Among the graduates were Simeon Bruce, who developed a particular interest in hospice chaplaincy, and Fr. David Gakunga, MI, who was drawn to CPE through the Camillian charism of caring for those who are sick. Both shared how the experience deepened their understanding of spiritual care and their own vocational callings.
We’re proud to celebrate these new chaplains and the next step in their journeys of serving others through compassionate spiritual care.
