Currently St. Camillus has 33 Sisters of Care from seven different congregations, and four different countries, caring for our residents. The sisters have dedicated their lives to serving and supporting others. Father Jojo Orosa, President of St. Camillus Healthcare, Inc., describes the sisters as 'the secret sauce' behind the care provided at St. Camillus. Their deep compassion and love enrich the quality of our service and profoundly shape our culture of care.
“I always knew my parents were cared for, but now I know they are cared about.”
Some sisters say it’s the other way around, that the St. Camillus residents make them happy, and this is what God called them to do. The meaningful relationships they have with the residents help them grow spiritually and be closer to Jesus. They feel the residents are their family – which is especially important with them being so far away from their homes. Here, they experience a new way of life - different foods, unfamiliar weather(some have never seen snow before!)—but the strong bonds they form with the residents help them feel at home and at ease.
Resident Robert Schuetz has referred to one of the sisters as “God’s human angel.” He felt so much love from her when he was journeying through hospice care with his wife and was so appreciative to have access to the sisters through the process. Hear from the sisters themselves in the video below.
