As part of this year’s Feast Week celebration, residents, staff and volunteers came together to create St. Camillus Serves care kits—simple gifts of friendship, support and compassionate care to share with people in our community.
The first deliveries brought more than 100 care kits to seniors at The Centennial Senior Community in Oak Creek. St. Camillus has a special connection with Centennial, as one of our Camillian Fathers celebrates Mass there each month. During the visit, St. Camillus also sponsored a donut social, giving volunteers an opportunity to spend time with residents and enjoy some fellowship. At the social, Director of Life Enrichment & Research Bridget McNair also led an interactive presentation on the importance of movement as we age, drawing on her background in sports medicine and gerontology. The St. Camillus team included two Religious Sisters of Care, a Camillian priest and a member of the Mission Office.
Another 100 care kits were delivered to our partners at Catholic Charities, who will distribute them to individuals and families in need throughout the local community. A group including our president and provincial, Fr. Jojo, the head of our Foundation and also other religious serving on our campus were greeted by leaders of Catholic Charities.
Each kit includes practical everyday items such as paper towels, a refillable water bottle, dish soap, a sponge, high-protein snack bars, personal care items, tissues, a prayer booklet and other small touches of care and encouragement.
These care kits are a meaningful way for our community to live out the mission of St. Camillus and share compassion and care with others.
