2021 Award Recipients
Each year, the St. Camillus Volunteer and RAC (Resident Advisory Council) Committees select two volunteers, one resident and one volunteer from the community to receive the St. Camillus Volunteer of the Year Awards.
It’s always a difficult decision, as many stand out and all make a difference. St. Camillus is pleased to announce the 2020 Volunteer of the Year recipients are Joan Betts and Linda Ryfinski.
Joan Betts was chosen as the RAC Volunteer of the Year. Joan is extremely involved in Pastoral Care and plays a large role coordinating the schedules of our volunteers for Mass. Joan distributes communion every Sunday to San Camillo residents who are unable to attend Mass and even finds time to volunteer as a bingo caller. Before the pandemic, Joan often helped with pastoral care activities for our assisted living and skilled nursing residents as well.
Linda Ryfinski, a St. Camillus Hospice volunteer, was chosen as our community Volunteer of the Year. Linda has been a volunteer for over 6 years offering clients companionship. Linda has made an estimated 600 holiday and “just because” cards for hospice clients. Linda has also been a valuable part of our Pen Pal Program started by Kay Fiedler, Hospice Volunteer Coordinator, to help cope with the challenges brought on by COVID-19.
Thank you to all of our volunteers campus wide who make a difference in our community daily! We can't express how much we appreciate you.
