St. Camillus Life Plan Community announces their second apprenticeship of the year. In October, St. Camillus introduced their Electrical Apprenticeship for the first time at their community. Now, the Life Plan Community will be the only senior living community in Southeastern Wisconsin to offer Apprenticeships in both Culinary and Electrical. The Culinary Apprenticeship is a 24-month long program that will begin this month.
“At St. Camillus, we know it’s critical to invest in the future. We are dedicated to allocating time and resources to attract and retain quality employees, which includes offering career ladder opportunities such as these apprenticeships.” - Shannon Angell, St. Camillus CEO and President
Kashawne Ford was hired as a Prep Cook at St. Camillus in September of 2022 and offered the Culinary Apprenticeship this week. Kashawne will work full time at St. Camillus while also attending MATC on a part time basis, paid by St. Camillus and starting in the fall.
Kashawne will spend his time doing a variety of culinary duties including: rotate throughout different kitchen areas and dining venues, participate in catering and special events and become knowledgeable of institutional and special diets. After successfully completing the 24 month program, Kashawne will be ready to move into a Cook or Chef role.
"Our goal is for Kashawne to gain experience in every aspect of our culinary program to provide a comprehensive understanding of our roles and offerings. At St. Camillus, we are proud to provide opportunities to grow both professionally and personally." - Lisa Harsch, St. Camillus Campus Culinary Director
