As a follow up to our communication sent on May 28, 2020 in regards to one of our employees testing positive with COVID-19 and the begin of our COVID-19 testing in our Skilled Nursing, Assisted Living and Memory Care buildings, we wanted to send you the latest update.
When there is a single confirmed case in a Skilled Nursing or Assisted Living community, the Wisconsin Department of Health initiates a facility-wide public health investigation. Proactive testing helps address any potential outbreaks early and if needed, manage them with proper isolation procedures. The testing for our Skilled Nursing, Assisted Living and Memory Care residents and staff began on June 1st. All residents have completed testing along with 90% of our staff which will be completed this weekend. Turn-around time on results is estimated to be anywhere from 48 hours, up to eight days. Today we received a call from the lab that we have 2 resident assistants who tested positive for COVID-19. One employee works in our Assisted Living and the other works in our Memory Care. Both have been quarantined per CDC guidelines and contact tracing is currently underway to determine if any staff has had significant exposure. We have no residents who are symptomatic and have not received any positive cases among residents at this time.
If we have any residents who test positive, we will let you know via this venue. The family of any resident who may test positive will also receive this notice via phone call as soon as possible. Residents will be required to isolate for 14 days and our staff will continue to monitor any symptoms if they occur. Our use of personal protective equipment, increased sanitation and isolation precautions, resident wellness checks and daily employee screens will all remain in effect to stop the spread of COVID-19.
We again thank you for your patience and understanding throughout this process. St. Camillus will continue to use the necessary precautions to keep our residents and staff safe and healthy. St. Camillus is proud of its mission to serve the elderly and sick and is committed to providing the utmost compassionate care within the process.
