An Update from St. Camillus

May 1, 2020

Hello St Camillus Families,

Update for Week ending May 1st, 2020:

We are happy to report that we remain COVID-19 free on our entire campus. We have fine-tuned our processes for admission isolation procedures and moving off the unit. Our Froedtert Nurse Practitioners continue to be available to see residents in the Health Center Monday through Friday and Dr. Quryshi rounds every Wednesday.

We consult with Dr. Quryshi every week regarding our infection control practices, and discuss any new protocols, policies and procedures. We expressed concern regarding the social isolation that our newly admitted and re-admitted residents are experiencing at this time and Dr. Quryshi was in agreement to order COVID-19 tests for all residents residing in the isolation unit on day 7. We have begun that testing today, allowing us to move residents off the isolation unit more quickly, vs waiting the full 14 days.

We have applied for a grant through the State of WI to purchase more tablets for residents to be able to communicate with loved ones via Fact Time, Skype or other social media apps, and hope to hear back on that soon. Our Recreation Therapy team is providing Hallway Bingo, and other diversional activities to keep residents entertained. Residents are able to watch daily Mass on channel 3 on their tvs, and our Pastoral Care team is also involved in visiting with, and entertaining to keep resident spirits up. We are continuing to monitor for updates from CMS, DHS, DQA and the CDC regarding any changes in how we should operate.

We are allowing visitors only on a case-by case basis, per the guidance of our regulatory agencies. The criteria for allowing visits is only when a resident is actively dying, and if the person visiting passes the health screen, and agrees to wear the appropriate PPE while visiting. As always, the safety of our residents and staff is our top priority.

Feel free to reach out by phone or email if you have any questions.
