Last week our Assisted Living, Memory Care and Skilled Nursing staff had fun dressing up for a resident Halloween celebration.Staff paraded around the various resident neighborhoods showing off their costumes and handing out treats. Residents had the chance to vote on their favorite costumes and the winners won prizes! Thanks to all who participated in this fun event.
Our Lit Group in Independent Living did a"180" this week! Last week, in honor of Halloween, they learned about Edgar Allen Poe and had a great discussion about "The Tell-Tale Heart." This week they read Beatrix Potter's "The Tale of Peter Rabbit." Besides learning that Potter was also a respected breeder of Herdwick sheep, they were able to enjoy Gene and Gwen Lavin's fantastic Beatrix Potter collection of books and music boxes. It made for a very special class. Thank you to the Lavins for for sharing!
St. Camillus has been informed of five new employee cases of COVID-19 this week. The employees include: a caregiver from our Home Health team, three caregivers in our Memory Care building and one security officer. If your loved one had significant exposure to one of the above employees, you have already been notified. All employees are at home quarantining.
We have had no positive resident COVID-19 results this week. Residents in our Cathedral and Lake Park neighborhoods in Memory Care and those residing in our Skilled Nursing Health Center who were potentially exposed are being monitored closely for symptoms.
Weekly testing for residents will continue in our Memory Care and Skilled Nursing until such a time that we have two consecutive weeks of negative test results. Assisted Living residents will complete their final round of testing today with two consecutive weeks of no positive results.
All staff working in our Assisted Living, Memory Care and Skilled Nursing Health Center buildings are being tested twice weekly. We currently have approximately 300 tests submitted to the lab from the last two days that have yet to be processed and are expecting results over the weekend.
