Dear St. Camillus Family,
By now, you have likely heard that the Wisconsin Supreme Court overturned Wisconsin’s “Safer-at-Home” Order on May 13th, which had closed many businesses, restricted unessential travel, and required our community to stay at home to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Some counties, including Milwaukee and local municipalities, including Wauwatosa, are keeping the governor's stay-home order in place, in spite of the Wisconsin Supreme Court's ruling.
Although St. Camillus continues to have no positive COVID-19 cases in our community, all of our current precautionary efforts remain in place, including visitor restrictions for our entire St. Camillus community. The federal directive is not affected by the Wisconsin Supreme Court decision. Facilities should restrict all visitors and nonessential health care personnel, except for certain compassionate care situations, such as an end-of-life scenario. These directives come directly from Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) has also expanded the visitation restrictions to Community Based Residential Facilities (CBRFs) which is our licensure for our Assisted Living and Memory Care facilities.
We at St. Camillus are doing everything we can to prevent the spread of COVID-19,a virus which poses serious health risks to our aging population. We understand that the current federal directive on restricted visitation is extremely difficult, but these interventions are needed to slow the spread of COVID-19 to our vulnerable seniors and staff.
Please know that we are here to support you. We will continue to find ways to help you have meaningful interactions with your loved ones and provide the quality and compassionate care that they deserve.
If you have questions, please contact me, your Administrator or Social Worker at any time.
