Wonderful news. Wisconsin Department of Health Services reports that our efforts to “flatten the curve” are working. DHS reports only 87 new cases yesterday compared to the 199 on 4/1. We must continue to “stay the course”. Our efforts are working. While in your apartments take some time to keep your muscles and balance conditioned so that you are ready to return to your usual life activities so soon as this is over.

Exercise #3: Toe and Heel Raises.

  • Continue standing at the sink.
  • With feet flat on the floor at a comfortable hip width apart. Stand tall and straight.
  • While holding on to counter rise up onto your toes. (Like you are reaching for something on the top shelf.)
  • Lower. Repeat up to 10 times.
  • Continue standing with feet flat on the floor. Holding on to the counter.
  • Lift your toes up off the floor. So that you’re standing on your heels. Be careful- DO NOT shift your hips backward! Maintain proper body alignment. (Envision the top of your feet lifting to touch the top of your shoe.)  Repeat up to 10 times.

Hint: It is very easy to rock to back and forth, that is why it is important to focus either on the toes or the heels and not alternate between the two.
