Health Brief

April 16, 2020

Today, April 16th is National Healthcare Decisions Day. A day to encourage, inspire and educate you about the importance of Advance Care Planning. Advance Care Planning helps you (and your family) understand that your future health choices are important to you. It speaks for you when you are no longer able to speak for yourself. Today is a good time to reflect on what you want for your end-of-life care and to have the conversation with those who love and care for you about your wishes. A Health Care Power of Attorney form is a “living” document that can and should be reviewed and revised at least once a year. . .  and “there is no time like the present”. If you need a new form, please contact me (x-4681) or the front desk (x-6300).

Exercise #5: Leg Raises.  While sitting in a chair with your back supported but not slouched. Feet flat on the floor at a comfortable hip width apart.

  • SLOWLY straighten the Right leg to a comfortable height
  • Hold for 5 seconds
  • Lower the leg SLOWLY.
  • Repeat up to 10 times with the Right leg.
  • Repeat this sequence with the Left leg.

Answers to the Whacky Wednesday riddle: Mary was too short to reach the button for 10th floor. (Sorry that was really bad.)

Thursday “Threezers” What do these 3 items have in common?

  • Ernest Hemingway, Theodore Roosevelt, Elmer Fudd.
  • A Golf course, All in the Family, World War 1.
  • A spell check program, A teacher, The stock market.
  • Homer’s home, A bacon by-product, A 1978 musical.

What are you grateful for today?  Tax day came and went…. I am still here and have a little “ching” in my pocket…. Joking
