Today, CBS news reports that the CDC has added six new symptoms to the list of possible signs of the Coronavirus. The agency now includes: chills or repeated shaking chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat and a new loss of taste and smell. This is in addition to the symptoms already listed:

  1. Fever
  2. Dry nonproductive cough (new onset)
  3. Shortness of breath (new onset or worsening)

Any of these 9 signs /symptoms may appear between 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. A runny nose and sneezing rarely occurs with COVID-19.  The CDC encourages individuals to seek immediate medical attention if any of the following Emergency warning signs develops:

  • Trouble breathing
  • Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
  • New confusion or inability to arouse
  • Bluish color to lips or face
