Health Brief

April 13, 2020

Happy Monday. I hope you had a Blessed Easter. As we continue to working toward reconditioning our muscles, I hope you have all been practicing your heel – toe balance. Remember balance must be challenged each and every day. Over this next week I will introduce more exercises you can safely do in the comfort of your apartment.

Exercise #2: Side Leg Raise.

  • Continue standing at the sink.
  • With feet at a comfortable hip width apart. Stand tall and straight. Imagine yourself stuck between 2 walls and you can only lift your leg slightly to the side.
  • Remain standing tall and without tipping your shoulders or shifting your hips raise one foot slightly to the side.
  • Hold for 1-2 seconds and bring your foot back to ground. Repeat this up to 10 times and switch legs.
  • Make certain your toes point straight ahead and not on diagonal.

Hint: if you are doing this properly you will only be able to lift the foot a few inches. Any higher and you are tipping. You will feel the workout on the leg you standing on, not the leg being lifted.

Answers to last Thursday’s Groaners:

  • What streets do ghosts haunt? - Dead ends
  • Why didn’t the astronaut come home to his wife? - He needed his space
  • What did the blanket say when it fell off the bed? - Oh…sheet

Reminder: if you are interested in receiving the sacrament of “Telephonic” Reconciliation please contact me 259-4681.

Put your thinking caps on… All of these answers begin with “H”

  • A feeling; sixth sense; premonition.
  • Nonsense, bunk, hooey!
  • To fasten… or to marry.
  • A cage for rabbits, cupboard with open shelves.

What are you grateful for today?
