Message from CEO

March 31, 2020

St. Camillus continues to implement imperative guidelines to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. As of today, March 31, 2020, we do not have any positive COVID-19 cases in our community. Our independent living resident who tested positive for COVID-19 earlier last week in the hospital chose to continue to quarantine off campus at a family member’s residence once released. We wish our resident and their family a speedy recovery.

Below are a few updates since our last correspondence:

  • Due to the “Safer at Home” Order effective 3/25 at 12:01am, we are requiring any independent living residents returning from trips, hospitalizations, or short-term rehabilitation to self-quarantine for 14 days when they return. Residents in our care areas have already been restricted from leaving unless medically necessary.
  • Our leadership team meets remotely daily and are working diligently to develop precautionary staff and supply contingency plans.
  • All COVID-19 communication correspondence can be found on our website: www.stcam.com under COVID-19 Communication.
  • We are in the process of implementing a phone line dedicated solely to St. Camillus COVID-19 communication. Please stay tuned for more information.
  • We would love to share pictures of our residents and how they are staying busy. Pictures would be shared on our St. Camillus website and Facebook page.  A St. Camillus team member may be reaching out for approval if we have a picture of you or a loved one to post!
  • If your loved one is in one of our care related areas and you would like to FaceTime with them, please contact your social worker or the recreational therapy department in the area your loved is residing in and we can make that happen.
  • If you or your loved ones would also like to receive our COVID-19 email updates, please contact 414-259-6310 to provide your email.

Meanwhile, our residents are keeping busy at St. Camillus. We wanted to share a few highlights from last week:

One of our Memory Care residents celebrated her 93rd birthday! Our Music Therapist played the saxophone for her while a small group sang ‘When Irish eyes are smiling.”

Our Independent Living administration delivered ice cream sundaes to all independent living residents for a special treat in the afternoon. Residents enjoyed seeing their smiling faces as they one by one brought the sweet treat.

Our Independent Living expansion project, the East Residence, surpassed its 50% mark for pile driving completion! Residents received celebratory packs with ear plugs to help with any remaining construction noise.

We understand how hard it is to be away from your loved ones. We thank you for your support and encouragement during this time.

God Bless you all and stay healthy and safe,

Kevin Schwab
