1. What is a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC)?
A Continuing Care Retirement Community or CCRC, provides a continuum of care on a comfortable campus setting. Multiple levels of care and services are provided for all residents in independent apartments, assisted living and skilled nursing facilities.
Some CCRCs offer a comprehensive style of care, including rehabilitation services, home care and hospice.
St. Camillus offers a wholistic approach to the continuum of care which allows residents to move within the campus and receive services as health needs require.
2. Can I afford to live at St. Camillus?
Our Senior Living Specialist will assist you in determining the best financial fit for you and your specific circumstances. St. Camillus provides service of the highest quality at a cost that most find more than affordable.
New residents are often surprised by the affordability of San Camillo, our independent apartment units, and all the other facilities on the St. Camillus campus.
For more information, review the Monthly Expense Breakdown for a one-bedroom apartment in San Camillo, the Monthly Living Expenses Comparison and all other documents pertinent to your specific needs.
3. Is there an Entrance Fee for San Camillo?
San Camillo does collect an entrance fee in an effort to keep monthly costs more affordable, but the fee is 100% refundable to you or to your estate. Your entrance fee will provide you with security, protecting your assets and making them available to you for any future medical care needs.
4. What is the difference between skilled nursing, assisted living and independent living?
Our skilled nursing facility offers both short-term rehabilitation programs and long-term care. Residents in either situation will receive service of the highest quality. The residents of our skilled nursing facility generally require continual care and attention from our staff of skilled registered nurses, who provide it with warmth and compassion.
The assisted living facility offers individualized assistance to our residents. Our staff develops a service plan with you to help identify everything you will require. We can provide help with all the common activities of daily living, such as dressing and meals, while also attending to all of your unique needs.
Our independent living apartment complex, San Camillo, offers residents an active and vibrant community life, with the security of an emergency response system. You will have countless opportunities to make new friends and engage in new, exciting activities. We help you maintain your independence, while providing a comprehensive network of support should the need arise.
5. What if I am independent but my spouse needs to be in assisted living or nursing care? Can we still move in? Where would we live?
At St. Camillus you have options…and they’re all right here! While a lot depends upon what you and your spouse want and need, you have choices:
- You and your spouse can reside in a San Camillo Independent Apartment and have our home health agency deliver any needed care. They’ll come to you!
- You and your spouse can choose to reside in a St. Camillus Assisted Living Apartment with an individualized service plan designed to meet each of your needs.
- You can opt for an independent apartment while your spouse resides and receives all her necessary level of care in our Skilled Nursing area. (While this option may sound a bit scary, rest easy. All of our areas within the St. Camillus campus are connected to make visits and shared meals easy and convenient.)
To choose the best option for you and your spouse, it starts with a no obligation meeting. It’ll be time well spent…you will get a good sense of St. Camillus and what we’re all about. We’ll explain your options, talk about your needs, and do an assessment, if necessary; and then, we’ll make a recommendation. The final decision will be up to you and your spouse. Our goal is to make sure that it’s an informed decision.
6. Does your facility have a waiting list?
Yes, some of our apartment styles do have a wait list. Consider adding your name to our wait list before you are actually ready to make the move. Our wait list members enjoy special offers and invitations through the year, but are not obligated to move to St. Camillus once they reach the top of the list. You can simply decline the apartment and your name will remain on the list.
7. Do I have to be a resident of San Camillo to be considered for assisted living residency or skilled nursing placement?
Our campus residents are always given priority placement for all levels of care, but we do not limit admissions to current residents. St. Camillus recently expanded our assisted living and short-term rehabilitation program, allowing us to extend both our short-term and long-term care to individuals from the surrounding community.
8. What additional assistance can I receive in my San Camillo apartment?
St. Camillus Home Care, our home health agency, provides for all levels of assistance to our San Camillo independent apartment residents. Homemaking service, companionship, nursing visits, overall care management and hospice are just a few of the available services.
Additionally, if you should find at any point that independent living has gotten to be more difficult than you prefer, a move to another facility (skilled nursing, assisted living) is a quick and relatively simple process.
9. What medical and emergency services are available?
At St. Camillus, we offer comprehensive care options. Our facilities provide everything from short-term rehabilitation, to extended stays in our skilled nursing facility to hospice care. In addition, we offer 24-hour emergency nursing services for all St. Camillus residents. A Wheaton Franciscan geriatric clinic is conveniently located on campus and offers primary care physicians who specialize in the care of seniors. Pharmacies deliver prescriptions twice daily and our campus van driver will gladly transport you to all necessary appointments.
10. Can I customize my apartment at San Camillo?
Yes! This is your new home and we want you to feel as comfortable as possible. So have the walls painted the color you want, hang wallpaper, change the fixtures–or remodel it to meet your needs. At San Camillo, just because it’s an apartment doesn’t mean that you can’t hang a picture or even knock out a wall.
We’ve made it easy to create your new home to be everything you want it to be. When you work with the San Camillo Design Center, everything is here. They know the “ins and outs.” Our interior designers have hundreds of options at their fingertips and understand the needs of older adults. They’re friendly and fun to work with too!
