Our beautiful campus resides in the equally lovely City of Wauwatosa. The city features a cozy population of just fewer than 50,000 residents and lies adjacent to the thriving metropolis that is Milwaukee. Wauwatosa lies just 15 minutes from Lake Michigan, a short trip from Wisconsin dairy country, and features numerous family-safe parks and charming local businesses.
The name “Wauwatosa”, a Potawotomi word meaning “firefly”, appropriately suits the city and its geography, as the nearby Menomonee River Valley is aglow on summer nights with the light of active fireflies. As the Potawatomi tribe settled the area, along with the Menomonees, the name suits the cultural heritage of the City, as well.
Once attached to Milwaukee, Wauwatosa earned its independence in 1842. It became a village, followed by a town, and finally the City of Wauwatosa on May 27, 1897. The City has always vowed to provide an enhanced quality of life to its inhabitants; adopting a zoning ordinance to promote the establishment of homes, and providing effective and affordable public services.
The City of Wauwatosa boasts a lush landscape, quaint and affordable homes, and the excitement of nearby city life. The St. Camillus campus lies across the street from the world-class Milwaukee County Zoo and within blocks of both major highway access and ample shopping. It is a lovely and safe location for residents and visitors alike.
