Nurses – Are you new to Long-term Care?
St. Camillus has partnered with the University of Wisconsin-Madison to offer a nurse residency (Geri-Res) program for RN’s new to the field of gerontology. Comprised of 16 self-directed modules, it includes interactive discussions and ongoing assignments. Cameran, an RN in our Skilled Nursing area, graduated from UW-Madison with a bachelor's degree in bacteriology, then went on for her nursing degree in 2015 from Waukesha County Technical College. She is our first RN to complete the Geri-Res program in 2017. Congratulations, Cameran!
St. Camillus is the patron saint of healthcare workers. At St. Camillus, we value our employees and encourage them to take advantage of numerous growth opportunities, such as:
C.N.A – In the past 2 years, we’ve trained 8 employees from Housekeeping and Dining Services to become new Certified Nursing Assistants!
Dementia Specialist – Through a collaborative partnership with our local Alzheimer’s Association in 2017, we’re training and certifying more than 60 staff throughout our organization -- at our expense -- so they’re equipped to handle the unique needs and behaviors of those with dementia.
Medication Assistant – we have promoted 3 employees from C.N.A into “Med Tech” positions in the past 2 years. In fall 2017, we’re paying to send another person through classes at a local technical college.
Nurses – We have a group of 5 C.N.As who are starting nursing school at Milwaukee Area Technical College, fall 2017. St. Camillus has committed to paying 75% of their expenses for the next 3 years, then will place them in nursing positions throughout our organization after graduation.
