W
hat do some of our RESIDENTS have to say?

Anna Marie
Daevel moved to San Camillo in 2006.
I am so happy to be here;
the adjustment has been so easy. I didn’t realize retirement living
could be so great. My family couldn’t be happier. They feel
comfortable knowing people are around in case anything happens. They
liked San Camillo from the first time they came to check it out. They
keep saying it’s like walking into a five-star hotel. Before making my
decision, I checked out other facilities and decided San Camillo was the
best. It meets all my needs. Everyone is friendly. I most enjoy the
cleanliness, entertainment and daily Masses. My apartment is a nice
size and is comfortable – also, the cleaning services are great. As far
as amenities, I appreciate the morning check-in service, being close to
shopping areas, and being able to take the van service to doctor
appointments. The staff are very friendly; they recognize you and seem
to care about you. |

Aurelia Hofmann stayed temporarily at the
St. Camillus nursing home in 2007, before returning to San Camillo,
where she has lived since 1993. About her nursing home stay, Aurelia
says:
I think our Therapy
Department is great. The staff are so patient, as well as
professional. I feel that therapy is mighty important for a quick
recovery. I have met nurses who are delightful to know and who will go
the “extra mile.” They’re real keepers. God love them! With the help
of the precious St. Camillus volunteers, it was possible for me to get
to the chapel for Mass. What a blessing! |

Joan
Mulligan has lived at San Camillo since 2004.
I have made or renewed many
friendships since moving to San Camillo. I’m one of 28 retired nurses
living here; for many years, I taught at the Marquette University School
of Nursing. I most enjoy the neighborhood & the cuisine offered at San
Camillo. The dining area is charming and looks hospitable. The 5
chapels are so convenient for Mass. The wellness room, with its daily
exercise, T'ai Chi, and yoga programs keep me fit (not fat). A nurse is
always available, and the medical van is convenient. The bands, choirs,
movies, guest speakers, trips downtown, tours, teas, Koffee Klatschs,
theater, and many games (cards, Trivial Pursuit, cribbage, etc.) keep
residents from being lonely or bored! In my apartment, I especially
like my bay window overlooking the Zoo. Also, I use my second bedroom
as a den for my computer. I chose San Camillo because I lived nearby,
in Elm Grove. My uncle was one of the original residents in the
hospital St. Camillus operated; in addition, my brother lived on the
floor for retired members of the Jesuit community. |

Marcy Davel has lived in her apartment since
2003.
If my friends expressed interest in living at San
Camillo, I would tell them they would never be sorry if they came here.
Everyone who has visited me has remarked how nice the lobby looks. They have
been impressed with the library, and think it’s great that we have a beauty shop
and country store. They think the dining room is excellent, with linen
tablecloths and napkins, jugs of ice water, and choices of food. My apartment
is very comfortable and is close to the elevator, laundry, and sun room. My
housekeeper comes in once every two weeks, and with her help, my apartment
always looks nice. For me it’s a wonderful place, because I am Catholic
and have the privilege of going to Mass every day. The entertainment is
great, the staff members are wonderful, there is always something going on. I
enjoy my independence, my garden, playing cards or bingo, working in the Thrift
Shop, and the Women’s Guild. I have made a lot of friends since I moved here.
I eat with different ones all the time, and I enjoy that very much. My family
is at ease, knowing I am happy and secure here. |

Peggy Dean has resided at San
Camillo since 2002.
I chose San Camillo because my
husband had early Alzheimer’s, and we needed a few years of stress-free living
together, with help available. It’s like a small town here – everyone is so
friendly – we have a beauty shop, a country store, a chapel, an exercise class,
yoga, T’ai Chi, and even ice cream cones! I’ve made new friendships and renewed
old ones. Some of us gather once a week for cocktails before going down to the
dining room for dinner or out to restaurants. I enjoy the view of the
neighborhood from my apartment, having my own laundry room,
privacy when I need it, and the security. The amenities I most appreciate
include: the parties, programs, movies, taking the San Camillo bus to go
shopping, Sunday champagne brunch, and volunteering. The staff are family –
from top administration to the dining room staff and the housekeeping gems.
