R
ehabilitation SERVICES
Rehabilitation therapists (Occupational
Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Speech Therapy) evaluate and treat people
with physical ailments resulting from injury, illness, or disease.
Rehabilitation therapy can significantly help people regain, develop, and
build skills that are important for independent functioning, health,
well-being, security, and happiness.
Occupational Therapy
The therapist will evaluate the individuals'
strength, flexibility and their ability to care for themselves. Treatment
includes therapeutic exercise and training in performing self-care activities
such as grooming, dressing, bathing, toileting, and home-making skills.
Physical Therapy
The therapist will evaluate the individuals'
strength, flexibility, balance, causes for pain, and their ability to move in
their environment. Treatment includes therapeutic exercise, balance retraining,
various methods to aide pain relief, and training in activities of daily living
such as transfers (moving to/from a chair, bed, toilet, shower, or bath),
walking, and the use of a wheelchair.
Speech-Language Pathologists
The therapist will evaluate the individuals’
speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing skills. Treatment
includes use of exercises, and techniques to improve comprehension, expression,
problem solving, and swallowing.
